Affogato is useful when dinner is finished but nobody is quite ready for the evening to end. Here, hot Ghar Ki Chai Chocolate Chai takes the place of espresso and melts slowly into vanilla ice cream, making a dessert that is part drink and part pudding.
There is very little to prepare. Keep the ice cream properly cold, make the Chocolate Chai just before serving, and pour it at the table so everyone gets the first few spoonfuls while hot and cold still sit separately in the glass.

Chocolate Chai Affogato
Serves: 2 Prep: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 small scoops good vanilla ice cream
- 120ml Ghar Ki Chai Chocolate Chai, prepared hot according to the packet instructions
- 10g dark chocolate, finely grated, optional
Method
- Place two small scoops of vanilla ice cream into each short glass or dessert bowl.
- Prepare the Chocolate Chai and measure out 120ml while it is still hot.
- Pour roughly 60ml of hot chai over each serving. Add a little grated dark chocolate if using.
- Serve immediately, before the ice cream has completely melted into the chai.
Notes
Smaller scoops work better than one large scoop because the chai can run between them rather than sitting around the outside. Chill the serving glasses beforehand if your kitchen is warm.
